About HeyRefund
HeyRefund is a free tool for UK consumers, operated by Heyrefund.me. It checks a complaint against published Financial Ombudsman decisions and drafts the complaint for you.
What HeyRefund is
HeyRefund is a free tool for UK consumers. You describe a complaint about a bank, insurer, lender or other firm the Financial Ombudsman Service can look at. The tool checks that account against published Ombudsman decisions and drafts a complaint for you to review and send yourself.
It is a document-preparation service with human oversight. It does not submit a complaint to a firm or to the Financial Ombudsman Service. The terms and the privacy notice set out the limits.
Who operates it
The operating name is Heyrefund.me. The public brand is HeyRefund. The site is heyrefund.me. The privacy notice names heyrefund.me as the data controller for personal data collected through the site. Questions go through the contact form.
TODO: company registration number. It is not in the code or on the existing public pages. Add it here when it is known.
TODO: registered office address. It is not in the code or on the existing public pages. Add it here when it is known.
Independence and funding
HeyRefund is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the Financial Ombudsman Service or the Financial Conduct Authority.
The service is currently provided free of charge. The terms, last updated 07.07.2026, say there are no fees, success fees or commissions. If that changes, users will be told before any payment is requested.
TODO: any other funding, such as owner capital or advertising, is not stated in the code or on the existing public pages. Do not fill this in until that fact is known.
Not a law firm, and not a claims management company
These are the same limits as the terms:
- HeyRefund is not a law firm, a solicitor, or a legal practitioner.
- It is not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) under the Legal Services Act 2007.
- It is not a claims management company, and it is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
- It does not provide legal advice.
- It does not represent you, contact the firm or the Financial Ombudsman Service for you, or manage a claim.
How Ombudsman data is collected and processed
The figures on Who wins and the firm pages are counts of published Financial Ombudsman Service decisions. The current public set covers 2013-April 2026, from 2013-04-02 to 2026-04-30. The pages were generated on 06.07.2026. The hub counts 399,161 published decisions.
HeyRefund keeps a read-only copy of those published decisions and counts outcomes, complaint groups and firm groups from it. A win means the Ombudsman agreed with the customer fully or partly. Cases with an unclear result are left out of the rate. Firm pages list the legal entities included in that brand group. A group needs at least 1,500 published decisions to get a page, and the checked-in set is capped at 40 groups by volume.
The chat uses the same published decisions. As the privacy notice says, a summary of the facts you give is compared with those decisions, and the conversation is sent to AI model providers to draft the complaint. The counts are history. They are not a prediction for any one case.
Corrections
If a number, date or sentence looks wrong, use the contact form and name the page. We check it against the published source and correct the page when the source shows we were wrong. Guides name the official page they rely on and the date that page was last checked. A date on a page changes when the page changes.
Guides are drafted by Claire, HeyRefund’s AI guide writer, and reviewed by the HeyRefund.me team before publication. Claire is not a human author.
